The King's Ambassador - Lyrics

These are words to song I wrote some years ago.  I was desiring to write something that would sound like a charge to Christians as ambassadors of the King, not only ehorting them to go and preach the Gospel, but also to give a brief of the message to be proclaimed.

"Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God" (II Corinthians 5:20).
 
O, take your cloak. and here's the Scroll,
Now what ye waitin' for?
The King has chosen you to be
His ambassador!

The King is sending you,
Out to ev'ry land,
To tell the people living there
They've broken the King's command

They've rebelled against His word,
And followed the devil's lie.
Warn them of the punishment -
The soul that sins will die!

So, take your cloak. and here's the Scroll,
Now what ye waitin' for?
The King has chosen you to be
His ambassador!

But there is good new as well:
The Ruler loves them so
The Prince became redeemer when
To Calvary He did go

He gave His blood and died,
And in a grave was laid;
But on the third day, He rose again,
The ransom now is paid!

His ambassador!

So now what must they do,

To make the promise theirs?

To be forgiven of their sin,
Adopted as royal heirs?

Tell them to call on Christ, 

And on His name believe:

The King awaits to welcome them

He's ready to receive!
