So what are abolitionists calling people to do with Amendment 3?
Maybe I can say it this way...We are encouraging people to NOT vote "yes".
You can vote "no", or you may choose to leave it blank. But don't vote "yes".
Why? Good question.
A "yes" vote puts the bloodguilt of child sacrifice being embedded in the Missouri State Constitution directly onto the fingers of the church in Missouri, deepening our complicity in
the long train of collaboration with regulation of the violence to the most vulnerable.
Long and grievous has been our fault of compromise in joining hands to support legislators
who have not fulfilled their responsibility before God and man to establish equal justice under the law.
Long and grievous has been our part in sending money to and supporting ProLife organizations that promote unequal weights and measures, while claiming they are for equal right of life for all.
I weep to consider how Christians have been taught and thought it doing well, to support iniquitous decrees and partial bills, which actually make room for murder under color of law, as long as you follow the rules.
This has gone on for many years!
And Amendment 3? It continues the error. Now the organizations and legislature that are believed to be the champions of the weak have not only refused to do the job themselves, but have given over to the citizenry an iniquitous resolution for an amendment to be engraved into the state constitution (the law of the land), the allowance for bloody violence to the vulnerable.
So they won't do their job. And they've put a resolution in the hands of Missouri voters that won't do the job either. But beyond not doing the job, will put the direct blame for the bloodshed on our own fingers, on our own heads. And they expect us to go along with it and celebrate the betrayal.
It is an abdication of their duty, and an absolution of their hands (an attempt to wash themselves, as Pilate).
If the new Amendment gets in, that they will feel secure in appearing the the heroes to their deceived base, they may continue to ride the wave in political theatre, and they will be able to continue to regulate murder like always, but they will have a justification to not abolish it. It will supply an excuse, because it is in the constitution and how can they go against that?
And if it fails to pass, then they will use it as a justification to not fight abortion as a viable issue anymore. They'll shrug their shoulders, saying, "Well, we tried to do something, but the people have spoken. They don't want to stop abortion. It doesn't have the support of the voters." Thus they have a pass, and won't do anything meaningful against child sacrifice.
Either way makes it easier for them to avoid their duty to establish equal justice.
So what must we do?
While we are urging voters to not vote "yes", we are calling on them to go beyond just that:
The vote must not only squash the iniquitous resolution; the voters must become vocal and tell the leaders why! Get the message to the ProLife Groups! Get the message to the Senate and House!
The people of Missouri, the Christians, who truly want to love their neighbors, must storm the statehouse with truth!
-With calls
-With emails
-With visits
To tell the leaders and legislators WHY they voted as they did.
It takes actual engagement! Go to the Abolition Rally at the Capitol in the next session (this February). Show up to hearings! Call for Justice! Plead for Truth! Call the leaders to repent of their compromise with evil, of their partiality, of their failure in their duty. Require that they legislature do their job and establish equal justice under the law. Our job is to be like the tireless widow in Luke 18, calling on the magistrates to do their duty before God and man!
Basically, we must love our preborn neighbors as OURSELVES, insisting that they have the same protection from murder under the law that we enjoy! Christians have to stop being pathetically apathetic, complacently compromised. We need to cast off feigned love, and pretend affection, and rather become infused with agape love, which, according to the Scripture, "rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth" (I Corinthians 13:6).
But not just the leaders!
We need to start conversations with our brothers and sisters in Christ about this. Most believers in the Show Me State have been told about abolition, that we have even had an annual rally for equal justice for the preborn since 2017 in Missouri! So let them know, that they may learn, and agree with the Biblical response to child sacrifice, and join the call.
This will be necessary, as the sincerely antiabortion people of Missouri need to know the TRUTH either way.
If the new Amendment 3 fails, many will be crushed, thinking all is lost, and will need to understand the erroneous path they've been on, so that they may turn to the right road to justice.
If the new Amendment 3 passes most all of them will be deceived into thinking they wom, and with great pomp and partying they will celebrate what they should grieve, and believe the battle won. And they will go back to sleep, resting on the laurels of their cause, assured that they protected the innocent, while children continue to be murdered in accordance to ProLife guidelines.
However the results of the election, may the Lord cause His light to shine upon the error of the ProLife Movement, and make the people consider that perhaps they were going the wrong way, and seek out what might be the righteous response. Maybe some people will stop trusting in "chariots, and...in horses" (Psalm 20:7-9), going to Egypt (compromising with the world), and instead put their trust in the LORD, and not in princes (Psalm 118:9).
ABORTION MUST BE ABOLISHED.
