A Population Parallel - Wake UP, Greater Kansas City! The Abortion Holocaust is Greater Than We Think.

Do we really understand the extent of the murders by abortion?

Over three thousand babies are murdered EVERY DAY in our nation.  I want to try to hit that number home, by making "Population Parallels", using towns in the Greater Kansas City Area.

Picture the murder of the born population of Buckner, MO (3,076) happening EVERY DAY!

The population of Peculiar, MO (4,608) EVERY 2 DAYS!

The population of Pleasant Hill, MO (8,113) EVERY 3 DAYS!

The population of Prairie Village, KS (21,447) EVERY WEEK!

Think of it---the current amount of children that are brutally sacrificed to the god of Self in our country is like having the Kansas populations of
Leawood (31,867),
Lenexa (48,190),
Rowland Park (6,731), and
Mission Hills (3,498) murdered in ONE MONTH.

And then the Kansas populations of
Basehor (4,613),
Lansing (11,265),
Leavenworth (35,251),
Tonganoxie (4,996)...
INDEED, the WHOLE population of Leavenworth County (76,227), plus the city of Merriam (11,003) the NEXT MONTH.

Followed by the murder of the Missouri populations of
Blue Springs (52,575),
Grandview (24,475), and
Grain Valley (12,854) the THIRD MONTH.

And the murder of the Missouri populations of
Liberty (29,149),
North Kansas City (4,208), and
Gladstone (25,410), with
Belton (23,116) and Harrisonville (10,019) thrown in the the FOURTH MONTH.

If the first month was May, that would still leave enough time to kill off the populations of
Kansas City, KS (145,786),
St. Joseph, MO (76,780),
Raytown, MO (29,526),
and Lee's Summit, MO (91,364) BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR!

And that is just the number of reported abortions.

Wake UP, Greater Kansas City!
The Abortion Holocaust is Greater Than You Think.

If this seems horrific to you, imagine the indignation of the all knowing God of heaven,
Who has made these precious babies in His image!
Who declares them to be His heritage and a blessing!
Who sees their slaughter in the secret places!
Who hears the cry of their innocent blood!
Who commands US to open OUR mouths for those who have no voice, for those who are being slaughtered!
Who commands US to warn the wicked and rescue the weak!
Who will bring judgment to a people that allows the shedding of innocent blood to happen in their communities without seeking justice!

Leviticus 20:1-5
:1 "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,"
:2 "Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones."
:3 "And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name."
:4 "And if the people of the land do any ways hide their eyes from the man, when he giveth of his seed unto Molech, and kill him not:"
:5 "Then I will set my face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go a whoring after him, to commit whoredom with Molech, from among their people."

Let us NOT hide our eyes!
Let us NOT be silent NOR absent when they are being slain!
Let us plead for justice and call for truth!

May our communities awaken and repent of our apathy toward culture of child sacrifice that is murdering our neighbors!

If this post agitates your conscience, and you desire to do something practical to oppose the evil slaughter done to your preborn neighbors who are murdered at the rate of TWO EVERY MINUTE, please contact me.

Abortion must be abolished.

Speaking the Truth in Love May Be Hard at Times, But it is Not Complicated

Near the beginning of the year 2017, a meme appeared on social media, created by a prolife organization.

This sentiment is pervasive, both in the pro-life community and in the Christian community.  I have heard respected conservative politicians, pro-life leaders and famous preachers, saying either...

that abortion should not be called murder, because that is insensitive, and we'll turn people away from our position, or

that abortion should not be treated like murder and mothers who pay a hitman to kill their preborn children should not be prosecuted.

Essentiallythat it is not loving to call women who abort their children "murderers".  That it is too complicated a matter, that they are victims, that we must not be offensive.

This has been going on for a long time, and has become an accepted dogma for almost the whole of society, both pro-life and pro-choice.

The problem?

"We are to speak the truth in love, but we must ALWAYS speak the truth."

As an abolitionist, I call abortion "murder" because it is murder, and because I know the God Who can forgive and save repentant murderers.

To not tell the truth, and leave someone with false assurance that they have not committed the act of murder, placating their conscience by treating them like the victim rather than the victim being the child they paid to have slain, and to not lead to them to Christ for cleansing is HATEFUL.

It is a disservice to the woman,
a betrayal to their murdered baby,
and an affront to the God of all truth.

Consider the words of this passage, especially the last verse.

Jeremiah 23:16-17,21-22 "Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD.
They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you...
I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.
But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings."

But, is telling a woman who has already had an abortion that she is a murderer really showing Christ-like compassion?

Yes!  It is the compassion of Christ that motivates me to tell them the truth!

I have spoken to hundreds of women walking into an abortion mill to kill their baby, and it is the love of Christ which constrains me to plead with them to not become murderers. As they are stumbling to the slaughter, it is out of love that I speak truth so that it might prick their conscience and keep them from the blood guilt that will be theirs.

I have spoken with many who have committed murder to their pre-born child earlier in their life, and it is the love of Christ which constrains me to call them to repentance and find healing in Christ alone.
I know many abolitionist sisters who have had abortions, and abolitionist brothers who have paid for abortions.  They all call themselves murderers saved by the grace of God

I met a woman who was passing by an abortion mill in Kansas City, Kansas, who told me that she had been sent to prison for killing another person.  In order to share the Gospel it is important that we never whitewash sin.  Sin must be called sin.  When someone admits to doing wrong, speaking the truth may seem hard at times, but it is never complicated!

I told her the exact same thing I had just been telling mothers walking inside to pay for an abortion and pleaded with her to repent and trust in Christ alone for her salvation!

We spoke for about 15 minutes (quite an interesting conversation), and before she left, she told me that she thought I was the kindest and noblest man she had ever met. I responded that any good she saw in me was because of Jesus Christ (and I only share this to demonstrate that telling this woman the truth about her murder was not unloving and she recognized that I truly cared for her).

Revelation 21:8 "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

Christians, let us speak the truth.

Another morning, at the abortion mill, I talked with a mother who had heard me preaching at the gates of death, and had just turned away from aborting her child.  As we spoke, she admitted to having had a previous abortion six months before.

Even as I rejoiced with her over the baby alive within her, I openly shared with her that the other baby was just as much a human being as this one and that she had murdered that child.  As I counseled her to repent of that former murder, turn to Jesus Christ for His cleansing, and grieve over that precious baby's death, tears filled her eyes!  She listened.  She exchanged contact information with us.  We went on to have a huge baby shower for her little bundle of a boy, and continue to engage her in relationship!

Speaking the truth in love may be hard to do sometimes, but it is not complicated.

Ephesians 4:15 "But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:"

Abortion is murder and must be abolished.

What Comes to Mind When the Titanic is Mentioned?

Yesterday 105 years ago, the Titanic struck an iceberg.

Early this morning, 105 years ago, that great ship sank beneath the dark frigid waters.
What comes to mind at the words "the Titanic"?

I believe that many people think of the ship that sank on April 15th, 1912, the tragedy that shocked the world, and perhaps they think of certain elements of the account, such as

The luxury of the ocean liner on her ill-fated maiden voyage.

The lack of sufficient lifeboats, and the lives of some 1,500 people lost because of it.

Notable people on board who made it, or didn't, such as Molly Brown and John Astor.

The honorable men, some very wealthy, who gave up their seats so that women and children could be rescued.

The ship's young cabin boys, who also yielded their seat in the lifeboats.

The story of the cowardly scoundrel, who tried to dress like a woman in order to gain a place.

Phrases that come to mind, like "Not even God could sink this ship", and "Women and children first!"

I believe also that many people think of a movie released in 1997, by the name Titanic, which is called one of the most romantic films of all time.  It was the first movie to gross over a billion.    In the United States, an estimated 128 million tickets were sold in the initial theatrical run. That is a good portion of the national population of 272.6 million at the time.  For the 100 year anniversary, they made a 3D version of it, and the gross profit swelled to over 2 billion total.

I am sure that many thousands, perhaps millions more, have seen it since then, in theatres and in their homes (I cannot include myself in that number).  It had incredible effects, an outstanding musical score, and an emotionally tugging story line.  Tragically, it featured lust and fornication in the lives of the two main characters, highlighting it as a grand and beautiful thing.  In that way, Titanic sinks in depravity, even as the Titanic sank into the depths.

So what do I think of when I hear the word Titanic?

I think of John Harper, God's man on board that ocean liner, who went out of this world blazing forth the truth of the Gospel in that dark night,

-who called out, "Women, children, and the unsaved into the lifeboats first!"

-who loving set his 6 year old daughter Nana in a lifeboat to ensure her protection, and
stayed on board to preach and die.

-who declared the Gospel to the over 1,000 passengers remaining in the face of grim death.

-who in the waters, surrounded by people drowning, was heard shouting, "Believe on the
Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved!", leading them to faith in Christ, even as they died.

-who took off his own life preserver in the waves and gave it to an unrepentant sinner, saying, "You need this more than I do."  Who later led that man to the Lord.

-whose last words were "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved."

-who is called the Last Hero of the Titanic.  (You can read more about John Harper, by going to the labels of my blog and clicking Ships, then reading the post "Of Ships and Souls".)

How does the sinking of the Titanic strike me?

Three things come to mind, three things that I can do about it.

1. It challenges me to be a man of honor, willing, and even seeking for chances to yield my own rights and comfort for the good of others.

2. It affords a great opportunity to preach the Gospel, and to encourage fellow Christians to do the same.  Such a springboard to go from an event that everyone has heard of, and then bring out parallels to the need for and way of salvation!  It can be done in print and in person.  I have used it while standing on the deck of a cruise ship, standing on a street corner, in front of an abortion mill, in a homeless mission chapel, elementary and high school chapel services, churches, and in one-on-one conversations many times.  It is so simple and powerful.

3. It also affords a platform to exhort for the abolition of abortion!  Just bringing out the concept of giving place to protect those more vulnerable than myself, and then challenging the hearer to do that for the 3,000+ that will be murdered TODAY.  That is hundreds more than were on the Titanic when it struck the ice.  We are to actively seek justice and equity for the weak and defenseless, not just be against their murder in our opinions.

Abortion must be abolished.

Let Me Not Pause

If, in the midst of an Holocaust, my hands are IDLE,
Could it be that my heart harbors an IDOL?

My way, my comfort, my Self.
Over my Lord and my neighbour?
Neglecting justice and mercy,
IDOLness in my heart and behaviour

What saith the Scripture?
Have I not read?
That I should not live for Self, but for Him,
Who died and rose from the dead?

Am I not bought with a price
So that I am not mine own?
Lord Jesus, abolish this worship of Self in me;
And make mine heart Thy throne.

Constrain my being with the love of Christ,
So that I cannot but obey the call of my Master.
To pray, preach, provide, provoke, and to plead,
To shine in darkness, to follow Thy lead.

When babies made in God's image are destroyed,
Mercy forsaken, justice abused
When Thou saidst, "I sought for a man,"
Let me not say, "...Have me excused."

That when truth is fallen in the streets,
And the weak are slain without cause;
When someone is needed to "stand in the gap",
By Thy grace, LET ME NOT PAUSE.

Abortion Must Be Abolished.

Tenent of Abolitionism—The Time is Now (Part 6 of 6)

The final and fifth tenet of Abolition is Immediatism.

As abolitionists, we believe that allowing abortion in some cases along the way to its total abolition is neither strategically sound nor consistently Christian. You cannot abolish any evil by justifying or allowing it to continue in some cases.

Any strategy for ending abortion in this country which allows for the continued occurrence of some abortions for the sake of eventually outlawing the rest, though seemingly pragmatic, is compromise and its promises of effectiveness are false.  It dehumanizes the babies that are not protected and undermines the truth that these innocents are people and that abortion is murder.

Abolition is a call not only to stop/end/forsake/abolish abortion itself, but also the practice that has largely become characteristic of the Prolife Movement, namely,
Treating abortion as undesirable healthcare, rather than the actual murder of the innocent.
Cloaking, neglecting, or the outright rejection of using God’s Creation, Law, and the Gospel to contend with abortion rather than consistently wielding these truths as the REAL weapon to turn the heart.
Regulating the mass murder of the most vulnerable, telling WHO can murder, WHEN they can murder, WHY they can murder, WHERE they can murder, and HOW they can murder under color of “law”, rather than actually engaging for the abolition of that murder under law.

As abolitionists, we reject incremental steps and the gradual regulation of evil. This is not an issue of what seems practical, achievable, or reasonable. It is an issue of obedience to God.

Many have rejoiced over the closing of the great number of Abortion Clinics throughout our Country within the last few years.   In many cases, it has been prolife legislation that has shut these places of death down. Prolife regulatory laws such as requiring cleanliness, licenses, wider halls, closer vicinity to a hospital where the abortionist has residency privileges, stipulating “safer” procedures (for the mother of course, NOT the child), etc., has closed the doors of those who cannot meet them.

But these laws are treating treating abortion as “healthcare”, not as what we know it really is—homicide of the most defenseless of human beings.  These laws are not establishing justice for the fatherless who we are commanded to protect, but are only insuring the safety and comfort of those who are hiring to have them killed.

Although these little dirty mills are no more, the killing continues. Where prolife laws have secured the destruction of some businesses they have also secured the success of many more.  Bigger, cleaner, and respectable looking abortuaries are being built (in mind to keep any client from having any contact with Christians who would counsel them to flee or offer them help).  These businesses are now even more efficient killing centers, giving the bloody deeds done within their walls a sanitized cover, mollifying the conscience.  They remain open due to prolife laws.

Also in relation to the mills shutting down, we must recognize that for years now, one can go buy an abortion at any Walmart, CVS, or Walgreens.  It is available over the counter.  The babies are still being MURDERED, only at a younger age.  Yet that doesn't seem to bother us so much because of how ageist we have become.

We must make no compromise with sin or with the means of fighting sin

Abortion is the abominable sin of child sacrifice and as such we call for its immediate and total abolition.  (Jeremiah 25:25, John 8:11, Acts 17:30, Proverbs 9:6).

We see this in God’s dealing with Judah: “They said, Turn ye again NOW every one from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the LORD hath given unto you and to your fathers for ever and ever:” (Jeremiah 25:25). God never accepts a gradual repentance of sin (individually or nationally) but rather demands a radical cutting off and turning towards Christ alone in total faith.  Jesus declared to sinners, “Go, and sin no more” (John 8:11). Repentance is not an evolutionary transition from darkness to light over time. Repentance is a complete reversal of belief, thought, and action.  We are to call people NOW to repent (Acts 17:30; II Corinthians 6:2).  “Forsake the foolish and live” (Proverbs 9:6).

The time for justice is always now!

Abortion must be abolished.

Tenent of Abolitionism—The Job Nobody Wants (Part 5 of 6)

The fourth tenet of Abolitionism is the Role of the Body of Christ.

We believe that seeking and working for Abolition is a duty of the church.  Christians have been given the duty by their God to shine the light of Christ in this dark and crooked generation (Philippians 2:15).

The primary means God has ordained to display His manifold wisdom to the world is through His people (Titus 2:11-14). Abolition is an obligation of the church.  It is a mandatory ministry to fulfill her ordained purpose—to be salt and light in this sin-sick culture of decay. The church was specifically commissioned to bring the Gospel into conflict with every dark deed of man!  It's a job for sure.  But it is our job!

As Christians, we are commanded to "abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good" (Romans 12:9), to reprove and expose evil (Ephesians 5:11), and to destroy the ungodly thinking that defends evil (II Corinthians 10:5).  We are exhorted to indefatigably rescue the weak from death (Proverbs 24:10-12), snatch the falling from flames (Jude 23), open our mouths for the innocent being slain (Proverbs 31:8-9), and hold back the stumbling from the slaughter (Proverbs 24:11-12).

And to those churches and individuals who are slumbering in this role, the Bible plainly declares:  “Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame” (I Corinthians 15:34).

It is a shame upon the body of Christ if we are not contending for the abolition of the great evil of abortion due to cowardice, callousness, complacency, convenience, complicity, or compromise.

God warns us not to stop our ears “at the cry of the poor” (Proverbs 21:13) nor hide our eyes from their needs (Proverbs 28:27).  The preborn are the poorest and most vulnerable in all of our society.

We are told in scripture that the righteous considers the cause of the poor; it is the wicked that takes care not to know it (Proverbs 29:7).

As abolitionists we do what we can to awaken the Church to fulfill her ordained purpose in this sin-spoiled and darkened world (Matthew 5:13-16). The love of Christ constrains us to call for justice, mercy, and equity for the innocent and the weak.

Every age has its evil and every age has it's abolitionists.

Historically, Christians have confronted the accepted evils in their cultures with the light of the Gospel: infanticide in Rome, slave trade in the British Empire, chattel slavery in the United States, twin killing in Nigeria, and temple prostitution/slavery in India.

God's people rose up to Assist and Agitate those sinful societies: exposing abominations, reproving the wicked, standing for justice and mercy, rescuing the fatherless, helping the weak in their distress, calling to repentance, and demanding that leaders abolish evil practices.

The tragedy is that today most of the American Church is absent from the battle altogether.  As bodies, they are not wielding the sword of the Gospel against child sacrifice—they are prolife in opinion but not in practice.  They are weekly, sometimes 2 or 3 times a week, gathering to sing praises to their God but are daily ignoring those made in His image being slaughtered down the street from their houses of worship.   They do not go corporately to the abortion mills, neither do they seek to engage the culture concerning the holocaust of the preborn.

According to Scripture, "pure religion and undefiled" (genuine and practical Christianity being lived out) is to look after the fatherless (abandoned children) and the widows (women in great need) when they are in their affliction (James 1:27).

This work of abolition is also imperative for us to be consistent with the TWO GREAT COMMANDMENTS!

Scripture plainly states, "And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these" (Mark 12:30-31).

Jesus skillfully tells the story of the good Samaritan to his disciples so that there would be no misunderstanding regarding exactly who the neighbor we are commanded to love, is.  The preborn human is the most marginalized, abandoned, victimized, abused, tortured, "beaten and left for dead" neighbor in our midst.  Two babies are murdered every minute of every day in the midst of hundreds of thousands of Bible believing churches.

Thus, it is the role of the Church, the role of every individual Christian, to stop what they are doing and tend to these precious children that we have knowledge as to where and when they are being burned with chemicals or ripped to pieces to procure their death.  One of the ways that the Church is to do as the "good Samaritan" did, would be to plead and stand up for the cause of the vulnerable and defenseless (Proverbs 31:8-9) at the very gates of death.

"If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;  If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?" (Proverbs 24:11-12).

Abortion must be abolished!

Tenet of Abolitionism—The Sword in Hand (Part 4 of 6)

The third and central tenet of Abolitionism is Gospel Centered.

"And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world"
 (I John 4:14).

"This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief" (I Timothy 1:15).

As abolitionists, we are committed to the unwavering truth of the good news that God the Son, Jesus Christ, was conceived in the womb of a young, unmarried woman who had not been planning on being with child.  The Eternal Word became flesh in the form of a zygote (John 1:14) and went through all the stages of development in the womb, was then born as a baby and grew to manhood.

Fully God and fully Man, Jesus lived a sinless life, testified of the truth, and laid down His life in the place of sinners, the Just for the unjust (II Corinthians 5:21; John 18:37; I Peter 3:18).  His precious blood was shed to atone for sin, for "without shedding of blood is no remission" (Hebrews 9:22).  He died for our sins, and rose again the third day (I Corinthians 15:3-4).

His payment upon the cross purchased redemption for a lost, wandering, and wicked people from their sin, rebellion, and the just punishment of eternal torment in the lake of fire (Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; 21:8).  He came to destroy the works of the devil (I John 3:8).
To be consistently Christian, we must recognize that the chief weapon in the fight against abortion is the Gospel.  Abortion is sin (murdering an image bearer of Almighty God) and the only answer for sin is repentance and a saving faith in the finished work of Christ (Mark 1:15).

We are to use the word of God
His declaration of Creation, the Law, and the Gospelwhen addressing the topic. Whether we are speaking directly to a mother walking in to Planned Parenthood or writing a Facebook post to declare our opinion, everything we do and say must be according to the Scriptures.  God uses His holy word to give certainty (Proverbs 22:20-21), convert the soul (Psalm 19:7), and bring faith to the hearer (Romans 10:17).  How dare we venture forth without the Sword of the Spirit?—the word of God, which cannot return void nor be destroyed, which is not bound, nor can fall in vain to the ground!

So we go into the fray, engaging the culture, unashamed of the Gospel of Christ, knowing it is the POWER of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16).

However, it is the accepted "wisdom" among a large portion of the prolife community to NOT:

  • call out sin,
  • warn their hearers about God's judgment for abortion as murder,
  • openly share the Gospel as the only remedy for sin when counseling a woman who plans to abort her baby (whether the dialog be across a table, during a hotline call, on a sidewalk outside an abortion mill, or inside a counseling room at a pregnancy resource center).
Are there any logical reasons as to why the movement would lean this way?

As already pointed out, a large percentage of people calling themselves prolife do not believe their own need for the Gospel.  In open rebellion to their Creator a humanist, anti-theist, homosexual, and pagan prolifer will not be a champion of the death and Resurrection of Christ Jesus.

There are also many prolifers who are deeply entrenched in a cult or false religion. They follow "...another Gospel: Which is not another" (Galatians 1:6-7).  Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, and Catholics do not possess the true message of salvation.  In fact, it has been the Roman Catholic Church, for over 40 years, that has been the main mover and shaker within the Prolife Movement. Sadly, even evangelical prolife groups and organizations have been influenced by Catholic leaders to keep the Gospel out of any initial dialogue with mothers who are looking for an abortion, and do not always contain a clear Gospel message when it is discussed due to ecumenical involvement.

I do not want to leave out the fact that there are some within the Prolife Movement that are truly saved and hold to the gospel with unwavering allegiance.  They unashamedly preach the Gospel and call their hearers to repent from any murderess intent toward their children and turn to the Savior.  I greatly appreciate the testimony of these saints—our family has ministered with them at the very gates of death—our family was one of them for many years!

But the problem is that most Christians who rally for the prolife position, take time and opportunity to boldly engage others in dialogue regarding abortion, and even go to abortion mills to pray or protest are carefully trained to NOT bring the Gospel into conflict with abortion.  There are two reasons for this (and perhaps more):
  1. Their main objective is to save a baby.  They use pragmatic (not providential) reasoning that moral, emotional, logical, and scientific arguments are what works and that sticking to those facts alone are necessary to persuade a woman to not go through with her abortion.
  2. They are afraid of offending the hearer and therefore losing a conversation. Although they do not deny the true gospel or the need for sinners to come to Christ, they instruct prolife Christians to "keep the Gospel in your back pocket"—having it readily accessible if the other person brings it up!

Here's the deal, as Christians and as abolitionists, we also desire to see babies saved from death.  We go directly to the kill mills with the desire to "brake the jaws of the wicked, and [pluck] the spoil out of his teeth" (Job 29:17). We have personally held tiny newborns that were scheduled to be murdered just minutes before their mother's changed their minds.  We plead outside of Planned Parenthood in order to see babies rescued from destruction.  We do not take issue with moral, emotional, logical, or scientific arguments (in fact we use them)—we take issue when they are not coupled with the truth of sin and the only remedy for it!  It is the Gospel that gives power to overcome the wicked one!

And like the Prolife Movement, we also desire to win our hearers attention and time. We call out to those "stumbling toward the slaughter" with compassion in hope that they will turn from abortion. We speak the truth in love.  But we always speak the truth even if the hearer does not receive it in love.  The Gospel is most often a stone of offense to those who walk in darkness. This means we will be mocked and rejected by those who refuse to acknowledge what they are doing is sin.   This is not reason to leave it in our back pocket.

The need for, and the power of, the Gospel is so often downplayed by Christians on this vital front line.  Christians within the Prolife Movement who leave the Gospel in their back pocket are engaging the enemy without their sword.  It is foolish strategy. Without the Gospel there is:
  • no real truth to stand on
  • no reason to seek justice or mercy for the preborn
  • no authority as to why abortion is wrong
  • and no real cleansing of sin.
Individual hearts, and our society at large, will never seek the abolition of abortion without the Gospel.

The Gospel alone can save.  The word of God has authority, power, and clout whether someone recognizes it or not.  It pierces even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit and goes right to the heart and motives of the matter (Hebrews 4:12).  We go into this world as emissaries of Christ (II Corinthians 5:20).

He has given clear instructions, and His word is what we obey.

"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15).  All the world includes abortion mills.  And there happen to be "creatures" there.  "And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious" (Ezekiel 2:7).  We trust God to use His word.

We go to the battle against abortion as Christian soldiers, speaking the truth about life and life everlasting:

"We are ambassadors for Christ, pleading a ministry of reconciliation with God.  Do you know Him?"

"Jesus Christ died for your sins: you do not have to murder your baby in order to cover your sin."

"We are here pleading in the name of Jesus Christ, in the cause of little babies made in His image, and for the good of all who will turn!"

"Your baby is not your problem, your baby is your blessing.  Sin is your problem, selfishness in your heart.  The only remedy for your sin and help when you are overwhelmed is turning and trusting in Jesus Christ alone, Who died for your sins and mine!"

"We call abortion murder because it is murder, and we know the God Who can save and forgive repentant murderers."

We wield the word of God, shine light into this dark generation, speak truth in a world that loves lies, expose sin and declare the Gospel of Jesus Christ Who saves!

Abortion must be abolished.

Tenent of Abolitionism—What Works (Part 3 of 6)

The second tenet of Abolitionism is Providential Trust.

Much of the Prolife Movement works according to a pragmatic mindset
claiming to follow what "will bring results", "what the experts recommend", and what they “feel works".  Most prolifers have swallowed this pragmatic mindset in one way or another, many without realizing it.

This can be seen in various ways:
  • Prolife politicians creating laws that merely incrementally trim and regulate child sacrifice (more on this in another post).
  • Prolife assurance that simply being prolife in position—voting for men and women who are labeled prolife, liking life-affirming memes on Facebook, sharing those memes on Facebook, giving to pregnancy centers, and supporting prolife organizations is sufficient to fight abortion.  That THAT is what works.
  • Prolife shunning of those who stand and plead outside of the abortion mills. Saying that, "Pleading for parents to not abandon their children to death has never saved a baby! It doesn't work!"
  • Prolife dissuasion of using images of aborted victims in society, of calling abortion "sin" and "murder", and of bringing the Gospel into the arena of abortion.  Their reasoning: "It doesn't work to use those ugly graphic images.  People will just turn away from you. Graphic images will actually drive women inside to abort their baby." "It doesn't work to call abortion 'sin', or mention the judgment of God, or that Jesus is their only hope.  That could greatly offend a pregnant woman and she will turn and not listen to you."
This pragmatic mindset is accepted by most within the Prolife Movement solely because they are focused on what the "experts" (those who lead organizations) advise will save the lives of babies, instead of what the God of all creation proclaims in His word must be done in the face of great evil.

They, intending to do well, want to do "what works".

Reminds me of those in Judah in the days of Isaiah, who gave the counsel to go to Egypt instead of the Lord. "That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!" Isaiah 30:2).  (Egypt pictures the world)

All this while God warned, "Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!" (Isaiah 31:1).

The Prolife Movement has been fighting abortion this way for decades, and YET, it is still "legal" and accepted to kill babies in America.  Despite all their pragmatic thinking, this way is NOT working.  Over a million babies are murdered every year inside of law abiding abortion mills by doctors who are protected by prolife laws.  Over a million! And the culture becomes more calloused (and the church more complacent) over the daily slaughter of their neighbors while Prolife Organizations grow.  Abortion is more deeply entrenched in our society's thought and laws because of prolife legislation and propaganda (I will cover this in greater detail in a future post).

As I have already stated, abolitionists base their reason for opposing abortion upon the word and attributes of God, rather than the advice and reasoning of man.

As abolitionists, we also rely on God's infallible providence not the wisdom of the world, the pragmatism of fallible man, or the platitudes of professionals in how we work against the evil of abortion.

Psalm 20:7-9
"Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God."
"They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright."
"Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call."

As abolitionists, my family chooses to put our trust in the providence of God not the pragmatism of man.  We rest in the spiritual means and methods that God has laid out for us in His word.  We look to the living and true God to lead us, knowing that He is our ever present, all knowing, and all powerful Guide.  He knows what will work!

It is He that is the sovereign LORD of all,
He that has created and sustained each of us,
He that has redeemed us from our own wicked sin,
He that has granted life to these little ones in the womb,
He that knows the hearts of people and turns hearts toward the children,
He to whom every one of us will stand before and give account.

Can we not trust Him, "...seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;" (Acts 17:25)?
  • It is the power of God working through His Holy Spirit that changes hearts (Proverbs 21:1; Zechariah 4:6; John 16:8).
  • He has deemed people to be active participants in this arena (Exodus 3:8-10; Matthew 9:38; John 20:21).
  • We are called to be faithful (I Corinthians 4:2), to walk uprightly (Psalm 84:11; Proverbs 2:7), to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15), and to trust Him above our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-7):
"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."
"In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
"Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil."

We therefore shun doing wrong "that good may come" (Romans 3:8).  We reject unjust action, dishonest words, and iniquitous laws which purport to "get what we can."  We choose rather to HOLD FAST to righteous, practical means in order to expose the unfruitful works of darkness, warn the wicked, rescue the weak, and effect abolition.

Instead of embracing the compromised methods of people who say we need to do "what works", we obey God and do right, and we happen to believe that when we do, that God's ways do work.

"Duty is ours.  Results are God's."

I Chronicles 19:13 "Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight."

So we go forward, crying out, "Watch what our God will do!"

God's work done in God's way will work.

There is still time to win a battle before the sun goes down.

Abortion must be abolished.

Tenet of Abolitionism—On What Grounds (Part 2 of 6)

The first tenet of Abolition is a foundational one.

Why are we opposed to abortion and on what grounds?

What is our basis for believing it needs to be abolished?

This is vital because, "If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?" (Psalm 11:3).

Ground doesn’t really matter within the Prolife Movement—there can be any number and all widely accepted.  I have met and seen Prolife Baptists, Protestants, Catholics, Mormons, Muslims, Jehovah's Witnesses, Atheists, Pagans, Evolutionists, Humanists—all self-professed against abortion.  Many are prolife:
  • because their church teaches the prolife position
  • because their family always has been
  • because evolution calls for organisms to carry on their DNA, and abortion fails to do so
  • because they like babies or they are human-centered
  • because they think abortion is messy and gross
The Prolife Movement at large makes a wide loop and calls for all to unite.  And yet, there are so many who are divided as to why they have the position in the first place.

CONVERSELY, as Abolitionists, we are all Christians, and we oppose Abortion on the grounds of the bedrock of Scripture.

On What Grounds?  On Biblical Grounds.  "All other ground is sinking sand."

Instead of clinging merely to humanistic reasoning, we must seek out the Book of the Lord and read.  "What saith the Scripture?"  Our authority as Christians is the word of God, not man.  Therefore, instead of neglecting its use, we are resolved that the Bible is the foundation for everything we do (Psalm 119:126-128).

There are two vital truths that are straight from Scripture upon which Abolitionism stands.
  1. IMAGO DEI - Human beings are made "in the image of God" (Genesis 1:27).  That includes all of mankind, regardless of age, gender, and ethnicity (Genesis 9:6).  To condemn the innocent blood (Psalm 94:21) is to contemn God (Psalm 10:13) in Whose image they are created.

  1. Incarnation - The Creator Himself, Jesus Christ (God the Son) became human (Philippians 2:6-8) in order to rescue lost and rebellious mankind from sin, death, and Hell (Hebrews 9:27-28).  He entered the womb to redeem the world (Matthew 1:21).  It was as a zygote that "the Word was made flesh" (John 1:14).  These murders are being committed in the very place of the incarnation of our Savior and King.

Moreover, the concept of abolitionism (the removal of evils) is derived from the word of God.

It flows from the charge to do what is just, reflecting the justice and equity of our God.
"He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" (Micah 6:8).

The volume of the Book has much to say about this.
"Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow's raiment to pledge:" (Deuteronomy 24:17).

"Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place" (Jeremiah 22:3).

"Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone." (Matthew 23:23).

"But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;" (Titus 1:8).

As Asaph was inspired to write, "Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy" (Psalm 82:3).

In the midst of a society, sick from the sole of the foot to the head with
—gross immorality,
—bloodshed of the innocent and weak,
—and rampant iniquity and inequity,

God's people are plainly instructed to
—wash, make themselves clean,
—put away the evil of their deeds from God's sight,
—cease to do evil,
—learn to do well,
—seek justice,
—relieve the oppressed,
—deliver the fatherless, and
—plead for the widow (Isaiah 1:4-6,16-17).

Abortion is human sacrifice to the God of Self.  Abortion thus is both murder and idolatry—child sacrifice, an abomination (Deuteronomy 12:31) which pollutes the land and which God must judge (Psalm 106:37-38).

Of all people,
—these little ones are the MOST vulnerable of all victims.
—they are the MOST innocent of all victims.
—they are also in the MOST danger of imminent destruction EVERY DAY.

They are the LEAST of these, and Jesus said as we have done it unto the least of these, we have done it unto Him (Matthew 25:40).

So WHY do we oppose abortion?

Because of what God tells us in His Book.

From the Scriptural view, abortion is murder:
—treachery against those whom God says are blessings (Psalm 127:3).
—gross child sacrifice (Jeremiah 7:31).
—the destruction of people made in God's image (Genesis 9:6).
—the defiling of the place where Christ entered the world (Isaiah 7:14)
—injustice against one's neighbor, which is forbidden (Leviticus 19:13,15-18)
—violence against the weakest and most helpless (Jeremiah 22:3). Thus it is
   “homicide in the worst degree”.
—a violation of God's holy law and character (Leviticus 18:21; Jeremiah 32:35)

Abolition is the Biblical response.

Therefore, abortion must be abolished.
