"Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in His sight" (I Chronicles 19:13).

DON'T Follow Your Heart!

The world says, "FOLLOW YOUR HEART!"  We hear that from the media, scores of movies, friends, books, and other sources.  However, we find that the Scripture gives us warnings about this:

#1 - "He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered" (Proverbs 28:26).

#2 - "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" (Jeremiah 17:9).

#3 - "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thought, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:" (Mark 7:21-22).

So, if we are not to "follow our heart", what should we do?  The Bible tells us the answer to this too!

"Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way" (Proverbs 23:19).  We should hear the words of the LORD, wisely heed them, and LEAD OUR HEART, following the way of our Lord Jesus Christ.

This truth is found in the longest psalm in the Bible:

"Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.
Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek his with the whole heart.
The also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways..." (Psalm 119:1,2,3).  And on it goes for 176 verses!

So, let us turn to the Lord and follow God's ways, not simply our own hearts!
