Inequity is Iniquity—The Problem of Regulationism

Some may wonder why abolitionists are so opposed to the regulation of abortion.  

As Christians, we unashamedly call for repentance and abolition of government permission and protection for the murder of the weakest of our neighbors.

We call out the wrongness of making bills that dictate that:
—abortion mills must be clean, have wider halls, etc.
—abortive mothers must wait 24 hours, have parental permission if minors, etc.
—abortionists must be licensed, cannot kill after some arbitrary age of the child, etc.

Some think that we are against it because it is JUST NOT ENOUGH.

The reality is that we are against it because it IS NOT JUST.

The incremental and regulatory treatment of this horrific holocaust fails to establish equity for the preborn.

Some abolitionists have coined the expression, "Inequity is Iniquity."

This is a true statement!  

We live in a culture of great iniquity, in which even Christians who are seeking to oppose the evil of abortion are doing so using inequity.

I hope this post may shed some light and awaken my brothers and sisters who may not have thought it through.

FIRST and (I hope) obvious.  Not only is abortion iniquity, but unjustly opposing abortion is also iniquity.

For instance, if someone says that the baby in the womb is not a human or we should regulate their murder (treating homicide as healthcare) rather than call for immediate repentance and abolition, they are in favor of allowing for a child to be murdered at ANY arbitrary point, or IN CERTAIN EXCEPTIONAL CASES. 

They are, in word and deed, bearing false witness against their neighbor. They are sinning. 

Iniquity is a word we generally use for sin.

SECOND, the definition of equity is "justice, right, having impartiality, being equal." To be equitous is to be impartial when distributing justice.  

Demanding equity is calling for equal protection and justice for all human beings, without respect of persons.

Please consider seriously...

That the LORD Himself is equitous: "Before the LORD; for he cometh to judge the earth: in righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity" (Psalm 98:9).

And that God commands that we not support any perversion of justice and equity, (i.e. even if the pro-life movement tells us it is a good idea):  "Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment: Neither shalt thou countenance a poor man in his cause...Thou shalt not wrest the judgment of thy poor in his cause.  Keep thou far from a false matter; and the innocent and the righteous slay thou not: for I will not justify the wicked" (Exodus 23:2-3,6-7).

We should never be partial in dealing with people—giving favor because of their station or financial status, or based on their ethnicity, age, level of development, present location, state of dependency, or whether they look like us yet.  We are to live with equity.  

When we stray from what is just, from that which establishes equity, no matter what we say in rationale, our actions become a deviation from true righteous judgment—it becomes a judgment of appearance, rather than reality.

Jesus said: "Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment" (John 7:24).

It displeases the Judge of all the earth when men do not act according to truth, justice, and equity:

"And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter...and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment" (Isaiah 59:14-15).

In James, we find the following exhortation concerning treating people with inequity: "My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons...Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?...if ye fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, 'Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself', ye do well: But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors" (James 2:1-9).

The word avon, often translated as iniquity in the Old Testament, means "perversity, to crook away, to turn from righteousness.  This carries the concept found in Isaiah 53 of "going one's way."

"All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every on to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all" (Isaiah 53:6).

The root of sin is selfishness.  Choosing our own way over God's.  Thus iniquity can be used to describe that which may be REPULSIVE to society like rape or slavery, or that which may be RESPECTABLE to society, such as cleaving to Mormonism, Islam, Catholicism, etc. for salvation rather than in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  

Iniquity can be ascribed to whenever one departs from God's commandment to do what is right in their own eyes.  People who seek to "heal the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace" are NOT doing righteously according to God (Jeremiah 8:11).

Even if we FEEL that we are doing some good, 
following the experts, 
being pragmatic, 
or obeying God and trusting Him, 
it is UNJUST, thus INEQUITY.

As one young abolitionist said recently,

"Christians shouldn't support regulating murder.  They should support ending it.  The movement needs to be to end it, not celebrate with compromises.  Continual compromising has been going on for 40 and won't end it.  Pro-life laws value one age and circumstance or another.  Pro-life laws, while they do save a few lives, are unjust laws."

Inequity is Iniquity.  

To promote any pro-life regulatory law is iniquity—and it should never be celebrated.  We are to have charity (agape love) towards our neighbors, and according to the "love chapter", charity "Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth" (I Corinthians 13:6).

THIRD and finally, consider the etymology of both words.

Equity: L. oequitas, from oequus, equal, even, level.

Iniquity: L. iniquitas; in and oequitas (which is THE SAME WORD AS ABOVE).

"Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal.  Hear now, O house of Israel; Is my way equal? are not your ways unequal?" (Ezekiel 18:25).

Iniquity, at its root, means not equal—not just—not lining up with God's word, His character, and His way.

Inequity IS Iniquity.

Equity and Justice must be established.  

We need to:
1. Treat the preborn like who they are (image bearers of God).
2. Treat abortion like what it is (murder).
3. Treat Roe v. Wade like what it is (a perverted opinion). 

Abortion must be abolished.

Using Images of Abortion Victims - Why? Three Basic Reasons

Some have asked about the use of graphic signs (more properly termed victim images) which are used by many abolitionists, and other Christians, who oppose preborn murder (abortion).

I would like to devote this post to explaining why I choose to use victim images?

There are at least three basic reasons why.

1. It follows God's pattern.  We find in Scripture that when God sent His prophets with a message to preach to the people, He did so with an object or an illustration in order to grab attention--Nathan, Jeremiah, Jesus, Paul, and many others utilized this method.  

The one who may have used the "object lesson" type of teaching most was Ezekiel.  God asked Ezekiel to do some crazy things to pound His message home:

-shave both head and beard,

-cook his food with manure,

-shake and quake while he ate,

-break in and loot his own house,

-NOT mourn when his beloved wife died

...get the picture?

In one specific place, God told Ezekiel to SHOW the city their bloody abomination within the gates.

"...wilt thou judge the bloody city? yea, thou shalt shew her all her abominations" (Ezekiel 22:2).

When I hold up a picture of a preborn baby that has been brutally murdered, I am simply following God's specific instruction to Ezekiel.  Many cities in our Nation have baby butcher shops.  Within these United States, we have slaughtered over 60 million preborn children.  We have filled the land from one end to another with innocent blood.  And God says that the "hands that shed innocent blood" are ABOMINATION to God (Proverbs 6:16-17).  I will continue show these pictures so that I might soberly show the city "her abominations" and that I might bring light to the dark deeds which the world wants to keep hidden.

"Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins" (Isaiah 58:1).

2. It is effectual.  The impact of such an image is powerful.  Notice that I did not say it is necessarily pragmatic--but it is powerful.  

A. It CHALLENGES people to face the facts.  This was a baby, not a blob of tissue and  this precious little one had ears, a nose, cute little fingers, toes, and eyelashes.

The humanity that these images reveal is why the pro-choice crowd fight against allowing these pictures to enter the debate.  It is the exact same reasoning that Holocaust deniers use. The picture proves them wrong.

B. It CHANNELS the message quickly.  People driving by may not be able to read all the words of some signs, but one look at the picture of an aborted baby WILL get the message across immediately.  They know what we're talking about.  A picture is worth a thousand words.

It puts me in mind of a time I was recently standing at an intersection in Wichita.  A woman passenger in a car driving by looked out of her closed window, and mouthed the words, "What is that?!" and then as her eyes widened with horror, she mouthed the words, "IT'S a BABY!"

C. It can be used to CHANGE hearts.  

I have seen a father look at the posters and go back into the mill in order to rescue the mother and baby. 

I have seen mothers turn away from having an abortion. They tell me that it was the picture of the aborted baby that made them stop for they were confronted that "the thing inside my womb is a real child."  

I saw a woman who drove by the victim images pull over to sit and weep uncontrollably for the children.

I met a medical doctor who once openly supported the abortion cause.  His own wife had had an abortion.  They believed the lies of the "establishment".  But when he saw the pictures of babies that had been aborted, it transformed his thinking. In fact, when I met him, he was lifting up a sign of an aborted baby above his head while calling to women going inside of an abortion mill.  

People often drive by with looks of disgust and I say, "Does this picture not horrify you?  Are you not grieved?  Let us be stirred to stop any more babies from having to suffer this child's fate.  'Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by?"  Babies are being butchered for a price--what will you do to stop this abuse?  Remember this picture when you are drinking your coffee! When you are talking with your friends! When you are standing in the voting booth!  And remember that these precious babies are being destroyed on your watch!  If we do nothing to protect them, their blood is on our hands!"

3. It is Just.  Those aborted humans have the right to face their accusers.  In our nation, it is recognized that no one is to be deprived of life, liberty, or property without "due process of law."  It must be proven that they are guilty of a crime worthy of capitol punishment.  

The Bill of Rights justly guarantees Americans a broad range of rights.  This includes the right to face one's accusers--as the Sixth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states, 

"In all criminal prosecutions the accused shall the enjoy the right...to be confronted with the witness against him."  

Yet these preborn infants are denied that right.  The right to a trial by jury!

The right to be assumed innocent until proven guilt!  

The right to face their accusers!

They are guilty of no crime, yet they are executed in ways that we don't even execute serial killers and mass rapists in those ways!  "These things ought not so to be" (James 3:10).  God provided cities of refuge for manslayers to flee into until they could get a righteous trial (Joshua 20:9).  

Even the Roman empire had this practice:  Acts 25:16 "To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and have license to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him."

If manslayers are to be protected in this manner, shouldn't innocent children more?

Therefore, I show these pictures, that these babies may testify in the only way they can now!

That they are babies.  

That they were murdered.  

That thousands of others like them are being slain EVERY DAY!

That this killing must end.

A Population Parallel: Wake Up, State of Kansas! The Abortion Holocaust is Greater than We Think

Do we really understand the extent of the murders by abortion?

Over three thousand babies are murdered EVERY DAY in our nation.  I want to try to hit that number home, by making "Population Parallels", using cities and towns in the Sunflower State.  

Picture the murder of the born population of Lindsborg (3,498),  happening EVERY DAY! Or more than that of the combined citizens of Elbing (229), Whitewater (718), Perry (929), New Strawn (394), and Olpe (546) EVERY DAY.

The population of Colby (5,387) EVERY 2 DAYS!

The population of Fort Scott (8,087) EVERY 3 DAYS!

The population of Hays (20,510) EVERY WEEK!

The population of Lawrence (87,643) EVERY MONTH! 

Think of it---the current amount of children that are brutally sacrificed to the god of Self in our country is like having the populations of 
Leawood (31,867), 
Lenexa (48,190), 
Rowland Park (6,731), and 
Mission Hills (3,498) murdered in ONE MONTH.

And then the populations of 
Basehor (4,613),
Lansing (11,265),
Leavenworth (35,251),
Tonganoxie (4,996)...
INDEED, the WHOLE population of Leavenworth County (76,227), plus the city of Merriam (11,003) the NEXT MONTH.

Followed by the murder of the populations of 
Manhattan (52,135),
Emporia (24,916), and 
Arkansas City (12,415) the THIRD MONTH.

And the murder of the populations of 
Junction City (23,353),
Dodge City (27,340), and
Garden City (26,658), with
Ottawa (12,649) thrown in the FOURTH MONTH.

And the murder of the people of  
Newton (19,132), 
McPherson (13,155), 
Concordia (5,395), 
Abilene (6,844) 
DeSoto (5,720),

If the first month was January, that would still leave enough time to kill off the populations of

and Salina (47,707) BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR!

If the murders of the preborn across our nation were actually murders of the born in the state of Kansas, the ENTIRE STATE POPULATION (2,853,118 people) would be gone in three years.  The Sunflower State COMPLETELY empty.

And that is just the number of reported abortions.

Speaking the Truth in Love May Be Hard at Times, But it is Not Complicated

Near the beginning of the year 2017, a meme appeared on social media, created by a prolife organization.

                                          

This sentiment is pervasive, both in the pro-life community and in the Christian community.  I have heard respected conservative politicians, pro-life leaders and famous preachers, saying either... 

that abortion should not be called murder, because that is insensitive, and we'll turn people away from our position, or

that abortion should not be treated like murder and mothers who pay a hitman to kill their preborn children should not be prosecuted. 

Essentially, that it is not loving to call women who abort their children "murderers".  That it is too complicated a matter, that they are victims, that we must not be offensive. 

This has been going on for a long time, and has become an accepted dogma for almost the whole of society, both pro-life and pro-choice.

The problem?   

It.

Is.

Wrong.

"We are to speak the truth in love, but we must ALWAYS speak the truth."

As an abolitionist, I call abortion "murder" because it is murder, and because I know the God Who can forgive and save repentant murderers.

To not tell the truth, and leave someone with false assurance that they have not committed the act of murder, placating their conscience by treating them like the victim rather than the victim being the child they paid to have slain, and to not lead to them to Christ for cleansing is HATEFUL.

It is a disservice to the woman, 
a betrayal to their murdered baby, 
and an affront to the God of all truth. 

Consider the words of this passage, especially the last verse.

Jeremiah 23:16-17,21-22 "Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD. 

They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you...

I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.

But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings."

But, is telling a woman who has already had an abortion that she is a murderer really showing Christ-like compassion?

Yes!  It is the compassion of Christ that motivates me to tell them the truth!

I have spoken to hundreds of women walking into an abortion mill to kill their baby, and it is the love of Christ which constrains me to plead with them to not become murderers. As they are stumbling to the slaughter, it is out of love that I speak truth so that it might prick their conscience and keep them from the blood guilt that will be theirs.  

I have spoken with many who have committed murder to their pre-born child earlier in their life, and it is the love of Christ which constrains me to call them to repentance and find healing in Christ alone.   

  

I know many abolitionist sisters who have had abortions, and abolitionist brothers who have paid for abortions.  They all call themselves murderers saved by the grace of God. 

I met a woman who was passing by an abortion mill in Kansas City, Kansas, who told me that she had been sent to prison for killing another person.  In order to share the Gospel it is important that we never whitewash sin.  Sin must be called sin.  When someone admits to doing wrong, speaking the truth may seem hard at times, but it is never complicated!

I told her the exact same thing I had just been telling mothers walking inside to pay for an abortion and pleaded with her to repent and trust in Christ alone for her salvation! 

We spoke for about 15 minutes (quite an interesting conversation), and before she left, she told me that she thought I was the kindest and noblest man she had ever met. I responded that any good she saw in me was because of Jesus Christ (and I only share this to demonstrate that telling this woman the truth about her murder was not unloving and she recognized that I truly cared for her).   

Revelation 21:8 "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

Christians, let us speak the truth.

Another morning, at the abortion mill, I talked with a mother who had heard me preaching at the gates of death, and had just turned away from aborting her child.  As we spoke, she admitted to having had a previous abortion six months before.  

Even as I rejoiced with her over the baby alive within her, I openly shared with her that the other baby was just as much a human being as this one and that she had murdered that child.  As I counseled her to repent of that former murder, turn to Jesus Christ for His cleansing, and grieve over that precious baby's death, tears filled her eyes!  She listened.  She exchanged contact information with us.  We went on to have a huge baby shower for her little bundle of a boy, and continue to engage her in relationship!  

Speaking the truth in love may be hard to do sometimes, but it is not complicated.

Ephesians 4:15 "But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:"

Abortion is murder and must be abolished.

What Comes to Mind When the Titanic is Mentioned?

Yesterday 105 years ago, the Titanic struck an iceberg.

Early this morning, 105 years ago, that great ship sank beneath the dark frigid waters.
What comes to mind at the words "the Titanic"?

I believe that many people think of the ship that sank on April 15th, 1912, the tragedy that shocked the world, and perhaps they think of certain elements of the account, such as

The luxury of the ocean liner on her ill-fated maiden voyage.

The lack of sufficient lifeboats, and the lives of some 1,500 people lost because of it.

Notable people on board who made it, or didn't, such as Molly Brown and John Astor.

The honorable men, some very wealthy, who gave up their seats so that women and children could be rescued.

The ship's young cabin boys, who also yielded their seat in the lifeboats.

The story of the cowardly scoundrel, who tried to dress like a woman in order to gain a place.

Phrases that come to mind, like "Not even God could sink this ship", and "Women and children first!"

I believe also that many people think of a movie released in 1997, by the name Titanic, which is called one of the most romantic films of all time.  It was the first movie to gross over a billion.    In the United States, an estimated 128 million tickets were sold in the initial theatrical run. That is a good portion of the national population of 272.6 million at the time.  For the 100 year anniversary, they made a 3D version of it, and the gross profit swelled to over 2 billion total.

I am sure that many thousands, perhaps millions more, have seen it since then, in theatres and in their homes (I cannot include myself in that number).  It had incredible effects, an outstanding musical score, and an emotionally tugging story line.  Tragically, it featured lust and fornication in the lives of the two main characters, highlighting it as a grand and beautiful thing.  In that way, Titanic sinks in depravity, even as the Titanic sank into the depths.

So what do I think of when I hear the word Titanic? 

I think of John Harper, God's man on board that ocean liner, who went out of this world blazing forth the truth of the Gospel in that dark night, 

-who called out, "Women, children, and the unsaved into the lifeboats first!"

-who loving set his 6 year old daughter Nana in a lifeboat to ensure her protection, and 

stayed on board to preach and die.

-who declared the Gospel to the over 1,000 passengers remaining in the face of grim death.

-who in the waters, surrounded by people drowning, was heard shouting, "Believe on the 

Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved!", leading them to faith in Christ, even as they died.

-who took off his own life preserver in the waves and gave it to an unrepentant sinner, saying, "You need this more than I do."  Who later led that man to the Lord.

-whose last words were "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved."

How does the sinking of the Titanic strike me? 

Three things come to mind, three things that I can do about it.

1. It challenges me to be a man of honor, willing, and even seeking for chances to yield my own rights and comfort for the good of others.

2. It affords a great opportunity to preach the Gospel, and to encourage fellow Christians to do the same.  Such a springboard to go from an event that everyone has heard of, and then bring out parallels to the need for and way of salvation!  It can be done in print and in person.  I have used it while standing on the deck of a cruise ship, standing on a street corner, in front of an abortion mill, in a homeless mission chapel, elementary and high school chapel services, churches, and in one-on-one conversations many times.  It is so simple and powerful.  

3. It also affords a platform to exhort for the abolition of abortion!  Just bringing out the concept of giving place to protect those more vulnerable than myself, and then challenging the hearer to do that for the 3,000+ that will be murdered TODAY.  That is hundreds more than were on the Titanic when it struck the ice.  We are to actively seek justice and equity for the weak and defenseless, not just be against their murder in our opinions.  

Abortion must be abolished. 

Let Me Not Pause

If, in the midst of an Holocaust, my hands are IDLE,
Could it be that my heart harbors an IDOL?

My way, my comfort, my Self.
Over my Lord and my neighbour?
Neglecting justice and mercy,
IDOLness in my heart and behaviour.

What saith the Scripture?
Have I not read?
That I should not live for Self, but for Him, 
Who died and rose from the dead?

Am I not bought with a price
So that I am not mine own?
Lord Jesus, abolish this worship of Self in me;
And make mine heart Thy throne. 

Constrain my being with the love of Christ,
So that I cannot but obey the call of my Master.
Surrounded by a culture of child sacrifice,
To engage for the weak, slated for disaster.

To face the frowns, the curses, the jeers,
With godly zeal and love unfeigned.
To preach the truth of God to their ears.
And trust the Lord of Heaven Who reigns

To open my mouth in the public square,
To expose the evil, to provoke and to plead;
Provide for the needy, for the fatherless care;
To shine in the darkness, to follow His lead.

When God's image-bearers are destroyed, 
Mercy forsaken, justice abused
When Thou saidst, "I sought for a man," 
Let me not say, "...Have me excused."

That when truth is fallen in the streets, 
And the weak are slain without cause;
When someone is needed to "stand in the gap",
By Thy grace, LET ME NOT PAUSE.

Abortion Must Be Abolished.
